Privacy policy

Author's Ink Publications runs this website. This page explains what personal information we collect when you use it, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how you can ask us to change or delete it. It is written to meet India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Rules, 2011.
The short version. We collect what you send us in a form or a chat, plus anonymous statistics about which pages people read. We do not sell your information, we do not take payments on this website, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time by writing to info@authorsinkindia.com.

What we collect, and why

We do not ask for your date of birth, identity documents, or bank or card details anywhere on this website.
Payments happen elsewhere
You cannot buy a book on this website. Our bookstore page links out to Amazon and Flipkart, and publishing work is invoiced separately once we have agreed it with you. We never see your card or bank details through this site.
Cookies and similar technology
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses three kinds:
- Necessary: set by WordPress and our caching system so pages load correctly and forms work.
- Analytics: set by Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.
- Chat: set by Tawk.to so the chat window remembers a conversation.
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. If you block them, the site still works, though the chat may not remember you.
Links to other companies
Some links on this site, particularly the buy buttons on our bookstore page, are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Author's Ink earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. When you follow one, Amazon or Flipkart may set their own cookies and their privacy policy applies from that point, not ours. The same is true of links to WhatsApp, social media and news websites.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. It is handled by:
- Our team, to reply to you and carry out work you have asked for.
- Hostinger, who host this website and store form entries and comments on our behalf.
- Google, for website statistics.
- Tawk.to, for the live chat.
- Our email provider, because enquiries also arrive as email.
Some of these companies store data outside India. We share only what is needed for the service they provide. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and manuscripts are kept while we are in touch with you and for up to three years afterwards, so we can pick up an old conversation if you come back to us. Published comments stay until you ask us to remove them. Analytics records are kept for up to fourteen months. Server logs are kept for a short period by our host.
Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to:
- tell you what information about you we hold, and what we have done with it;
- correct anything inaccurate or incomplete;
- delete what we hold, where we are not required to keep it;
- withdraw consent you have given, which stops us using your details from that point;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you cannot.
Write to info@authorsinkindia.com and we will respond. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Keeping it safe
The website runs over an encrypted connection, access to the admin area is limited to the people who need it and protected by security software, and manuscripts are shared only with the editorial team working on them. No system is perfect, but we treat unpublished work as confidential.
Children
This website is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
When we change how we handle personal information, we update this page and the date at the top. The version shown here is the one that applies.
