These are identical across all seven packages, so they're listed once here rather than repeated in every column. The comparison table below shows only what actually differs.

Packages differ on two axes — book length and print run — so a higher tier is not always more pages: Cheetah allows fewer pages than Jaguar but prints twice as many copies. Anything marked Add-on can be bought with any package; ask your project manager for a quote. *Author copies are a tentative number and may vary with your book's page count. Book-to-screen adaptation depends on availability and selection.
Anything not in your package can still be added.
Priced separately and available with any plan. Lion and Tiger carry a standing discount on editing and proofreading.
What you keep on every copy sold.
Royalty is calculated on net sales — what reaches us after retailer and distribution margins, not the cover price. The rate is fixed by your package, so you know it before you sign.
Royalty rates on net sales: Pocket Book 10%, Leopard 1 10%, Leopard 2 15%, Jaguar 20%, Cheetah 20%, Lion 25%, Tiger 30%.
Net sales, not cover price
If your book has a ₹350 cover price, the retailer and distributor take their margin first. Your royalty percentage applies to what remains. Ask your project manager for the current net realisation on your chosen channels before you estimate earnings — it is the number that decides what you actually take home.
Publishing packages, answered
How much does it cost to publish a book in India?+
All-inclusive packages at Author's Ink start at ₹15,999 for Pocket Book and go up to ₹1,49,999 for Tiger. Every package covers ISBN allocation, a full-colour cover, print-ready formatting, a print run and distribution to Amazon, Kindle and Google Play. What changes between them is maximum page count, print run, marketing support and royalty rate. For a line-by-line breakdown of editing, ISBN, cover, printing and distribution costs, read how much it costs to publish a book in India.
Which publishing package should I choose?+
Start with your manuscript length, because that rules packages in or out. Under 60 pages, Pocket Book covers it. A full-length first book usually fits Leopard 1 or Leopard 2 — and Leopard 2 is the first tier with international distribution included and a 15% royalty. Above 180 pages you need Cheetah (up to 200), Jaguar (up to 250), Lion (up to 275) or Tiger (up to 300). Then choose by print run: how many physical copies you actually want in circulation. Not sure of your page count? Try our word count to page count calculator. New to all this? Start with our step-by-step guide to how to publish a book in India.
What does "royalty on net sales" mean?+
Net sales are what reaches us after the retailer and distributor take their margins — not the printed cover price. Your package royalty, from 10% on Pocket Book to 30% on Tiger, is applied to that figure. Ask for the current net realisation on your chosen channels before estimating your earnings.
How many copies of my book will be printed?+
Print runs range from 70 copies on Pocket Book and Leopard 1 to 1,500 on Tiger. Your author copies — the ones that come to you — run from 8 to 400 depending on the package, and additional copies are discounted between 25% and 40% off MRP. The author-copy numbers are tentative and may vary with your book's page count.
Is editing included in the publishing packages?+
No. Editing and proofreading are add-ons on every package, priced separately, with a 20% discount on Lion and 25% on Tiger. This is deliberate: not every manuscript needs the same level of edit, and bundling it would mean charging authors who don't need it. See editing services.
Do I keep the rights to my book?+
Yes. Every package includes a legal agreement setting out the terms in writing before any work begins. Read it, and ask about anything that isn't clear.
Can I upgrade my package later?+
Talk to your project manager before printing begins. Print run and page count are fixed once production starts, so the earlier you decide, the more options you have.
How do I pay for a publishing package?+
In two instalments: 50% when the publishing agreement is signed, and the remaining 50% before your book goes live on online stores. You can pay by UPI, card or bank transfer.
Not sure which package fits? Send us the manuscript.
A real editor reads your first chapter and tells you honestly which package suits it — including when a cheaper one is enough. No obligation, no sales call.
