Terms and conditions

These terms cover your use of authorsinkindia.com: reading it, writing to us through it, sending us a manuscript, commenting on the blog and using the bookstore and launch kit pages. If you publish a book with us, the written agreement for your project sets out the terms of that work, and it takes priority over anything on this page.

Using this website

You are welcome to read, share and link to our pages. When using the site, please do not:

• break any law, or use the site to harm anyone;
• try to get into parts of the site or its systems that are not meant for you, or interfere with how it works;
• copy the site in bulk or with automated tools, or republish our content as your own;
• send us material you do not have the right to share, or pretend to be someone else.

We may block access for anyone who misuses the site.

Our services, prices and quotes

Our packages, prices and timelines on this site describe what we usually offer. They are a guide, not an offer that binds either of us. The scope, price, schedule and royalty terms for your book are set out in the written quote and agreement we share with you before work begins, and those documents are what apply.

We work hard to publish and promote every book well, but we cannot promise any number of sales, a bestseller ranking, media coverage or a place in a particular bookstore. Those depend on readers, retailers and the media.

Manuscripts and other things you send us

When you send us a manuscript, sample chapter, idea or enquiry:

• you confirm it is your own work, or that you have the right to share it;
• you keep the copyright, and sending it does not give us any right to publish it;
• we treat it as confidential and share it only with the people assessing it, as described in our privacy policy;
• sending it does not create a publishing contract. That happens only when we both sign an agreement.

A manuscript assessment is an honest professional opinion to help you decide your next step. It is not a guarantee of how the book will be received.

Your book, your rights

Authors who publish with us keep the copyright in their work. The rights you grant us, such as the right to print, distribute and sell your book, and for how long, are listed in your publishing agreement.

Refunds for services

As our return policy explains, publishing services such as editing, proofreading, cover design, publishing and marketing cannot be returned once they have been taken up. Any refund for a project is governed by the agreement for that project.

Buying our books

Our bookstore page lists books we have published and links to where you can buy them. Orders are placed with Amazon, Flipkart or the bookstore you choose, so their prices, delivery, cancellation and return terms apply to your purchase. Some of those links are affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate, Author’s Ink earns from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you.

Launch kit materials

The launch kit pages provide share images, captions, a press release and author details for our books. Authors, their readers and the press may use these materials to announce and promote the book they relate to. Please do not change them in a way that misrepresents the book, its author or Author’s Ink, or use them to promote anything else.

Our content

The text, design, logo and photographs on this site belong to Author’s Ink Publications, unless they are marked as belonging to someone else. Book covers, extracts and author photos belong to their authors and rights holders and are shown here to promote their books. You may quote short passages with a credit and a link back to us; anything more needs our written permission.

Comments and reviews

You are responsible for what you post on our blog. We may edit or remove comments that are abusive, misleading, off-topic or promotional, and we may block repeat offenders. By posting, you allow us to display your comment on the site.

Links to other websites

We link to retailers, news reports, social media and other sites we think are useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

How far we are responsible

We try to keep the information on this site accurate and up to date, but it is provided as it is, and it may occasionally contain mistakes or be out of date. As far as Indian law allows, we are not responsible for any indirect loss, or for loss of profits, data or opportunity, that comes from using the site or relying on its content. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site and our services change. The version on this page, with the date at the top, is the one that applies.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute about them or about this website will be dealt with by the courts at Rohtak, Haryana.
